For me, necklaces are a limited item. Usually, I just put a charm on a chain and call it good! I look for simplicity more on necklaces, because I don't want something big to get in the way.
Necklaces usually take up a lot of chain, so I don't make them that often, but when I do, it's pretty fun!
The most complex necklace I ever made was a layout of pearls in a lacy design. I certainly will not be making it again!
